Meet the Winemaker Dinner in The Morrison Room at Carton House with Gusbourne Wines

Carton House is delighted to host a very special Meet the Winemaker dinner in The Morrison Room on Thursday 29th September showcasing the exquisite and award-winning wines of Gusbourne Estate accompanied by carefully curated dishes from their fine dining restaurant.

Beginning with a drinks reception at 7p.m. with a selection of canapés accompanied by Gusbourne Estate Brut Reserve, guests will then progress to the magnificent setting of The Morrison Room to enjoy a four-course menu created by Head Chef Charles Degrendele with wine pairings from Gusbourne Estate wines.

Introduced by Master Sommelier and Global Ambassador, Laura Rhys, this is an opportunity to experience some of the exceptional wines from Gusbourne Estate, an English winery that has earned a stellar reputation as an outstanding producer since its founding in 2004, with accolades from some of the industry’s most exacting critics. Growing the highest quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes across 60 hectares in Kent and 30 hectares in West Sussex, and championing a low-intervention, sustainable approach to vineyard management, Gusbourne sparkling and still wines continue to win prestigious national and international industry awards every year.

Based in London, Laura is a well-known judge of Sommelier competitions as well as national and international wine competitions, an active member of the Court of Master Sommeliers Europe and a regular host of tastings, wine dinners and seminars. She has worked closely with Gusbourne since 2015, where her role encompasses ambassadorial and development duties both in the UK and internationally. She also works closely with Gusbourne Estate winemaker Charlie Holland (the only three-time winner of the IWSC English Wine Producer of the Year) and the winemaking and vineyard teams.

Head Chef Charles Degrendele’s menu in The Morrison Room begins with salted baked and pickled beetroot, St. Tola goat curd, black garlic and pine nuts which is paired with Gusbourne Estate Blancs de Blancs, a wine with both finesse and elegance. Guests will then enjoy citrus salmon, heirloom radish, cucumber and wasabi matched with the elegant and complex Gusbourne Estate Chardonnay Guinevere, followed by Skeaghanore duck breast with caramelised yogurt, chicory and cranberries partnered with the bright, fruit and pepper smokiness of Gusbourne Estate Pinot Noir. The dessert — a daisy of raspberry, kefir and rose — is paired with the delectable and distinctive Gusbourne Estate Rosé and followed by a selection of mignardises.

The Meet the Winemaker dinner in The Morrison Room in Carton House on Thursday 29th September is €120 per person and can be booked online here www.cartonhouse.com or over the phone on +353 (0)1 505 2000.
