When you first step inside what’s dubbed as ” a subterranean den of delight” first thing that strikes you is the opulent vintage surroundings. Having just celebrated their first birthday The Liquor Rooms has quickly established itself as a very popular and unique Dublin venue.
Set out in four rooms, with lots of little snugs it has an intimate feeling yet something different around every corner. On the Saturday night we visited the crowd was in full swing and you could easily forget you were below the conservative Clarence . There is a fantastic mix of people sipping, dancing and dining . This is the kind of bar you enjoy waiting that little extra for the delectable delights in a glass that await you . That mixed with professional, friendly bartenders under the watchful eye of top mixologist Kevin Hurley who endeavour to create something unique based on your individual tastes makes for something of a rarity on the scene at present . No surprise then that how this was the first bar in The Republic to be nominated in the prestigious “Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards”. The must try of the night has to be The Lazy Daisy Swizzle , the rose buds adding a very unique touch .
Brandy is dandy, but Liquor is Quicker
However it’s not all just about the Liquor . If your feeling a little peckish after all those well crafted concoctions The Liquor Rooms have plenty to offer ,particularly if your in the mood for sharing ! Our favourite was “The Corn Puppies “, premium sausage wrapped in cornbread batter, deep fried and served with a piquant mustard mayo. A simple little snack but utterly delicious, but you could play it safe and opt for the Three Sassy Sliders
An excellent addition to the burgeoning Dublin Cocktail scene and with a promise to leave you taste buds singing, they most certainly do not disappoint .
