Jean Christophe Novelli to Open New Brasserie in Belfast

While Dublin has seen a spate of restaurant openings in recent times, celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli will open his first restaurant in Ireland in Belfast early next year. Expected to be called Jean-Christophe Novelli at City Quays, the new restaurant will form part of the £25m Marriott AC Hotel, which is currently under construction.

Jean-Christophe Novelli at City Quays will be a part of Belfast Harbour’s City Quays development project which is aimed at rejuvenating the city’s waterfront. The restaurant will be a 104-seat eatery alongside a bar, lounge, gym, meeting rooms and close to 190 luxury bedrooms in the new Marriot AC Hotel.

The restaurant will be a brasserie style venue with a French-influenced menu on offer, similar to the numerous restaurants Novelli already fronts across the UK. Novelli is set to visit Belfast next to firm up plans for the latest addition to his empire, which will feature a double height glazed façade with stunning waterfront views across the river.

On the exciting opening, Graeme Johnston, Property Director of Belfast Harbour, said:

“Jean-Christophe Novelli is a true champion of high quality, and innovative menu combinations and his decision to choose City Quays, and Belfast, is a testament to the success of our development plans for this key waterfont city location, the strong demand for great hospitality and the vibrancy of our visitor economy.”

“Strategically located, this exciting new restaurant is great news for the local economy and will provide a welcome addition to Belfast and Northern Ireland’s strong hospitality, leisure and tourism offer. It’s a real coup for Belfast and I look forward to an outstanding first year when our hotel opens its doors in 2018.”
