OMMA Matcha – a Dublin-based independent brand focused on ceremonial matcha and specialty Japanese tea – is launching a pop-up café on April 17th at Planet Beauty, Brown Thomas, Clarendon St.
Launched in Dublin in June 2023, OMMA has been dedicated to “educating and immersing people in specialty ceremonial matcha” through matcha ceremonies, workshops on history and traditions, and collaborations with top cafés across Ireland, including 3fe, Hatch, Indigo & Cloth, and over 30 others.
The new OMMA pop-up will showcase a unique lineup of matcha-based drinks alongside authentic Japanese flavours like hojicha latte and sobacha. Indulgent treats, including fruit sando, mochi, yuzu buns, and matcha genmai chocolates, will complete the experience.
Guided by the brand’s slogan, ‘Me time – tea time,’ OMMA Pop-Up Café encourages guests to slow down, savour the moment, and embrace tea as a ritual

At the heart of OMMA is a specialty ceremonial-grade matcha from the misty mountains of Miyazaki, Japan—sourced from a small, family-run farm and crafted from the youngest, freshest leaves of the first flush season.
OMMA founder Nastya Kharytonova, a Ukrainian for whom Dublin has become a second home, has embarked on multiple expeditions across Japan’s renowned and hidden tea regions—from Wazuka and Shizuoka to Miyazaki and Yame—in search of rare flavours and authentic stories. Nastya even lived with a Japanese tea family for a couple of months, mastering tea cultivation and preparation, and trained under tea masters with over 60 years of experience.
For Nastya, OMMA Pop-Up is “more than just a temporary project—it’s a mission. A way to give voice and visibility to Ukrainian talent, strength, and resilience.”

Pavlo – her boyfriend and her best friend Kate lead the creation of OMMA’s textiles and uniforms. Her friend Andrii manages operations. Alina is the lead designer and illustrator. Marko, another close friend, designed the OMMA pop-up space. Dasha came all the way from Kyiv to craft heavenly delicious handmade matcha desserts, Olena brings her ceramic artistry to life through OMMA’s signature chawans.
“When all my dearest Ukrainian people are scattered across Europe,” Nastya says, “OMMA for me is a way to bring them together—to show the world how talented, strong, and creative Ukrainians are as a nation.”
This project is also about building a “meaningful bridge between Irish, Ukrainian, and Japanese cultures”, Nastya adds.
The uniqueness of OMMA lies in its artisanal taste, intentional sourcing, and close relationships with tea farm partners. Every tea is personally hand-selected by Nastya, guided by a deep respect for tradition, craftsmanship, and quality.
