4th of july in dublin mad egg

Here’s How You Can Celebrate 4th of July in Dublin, The American Way

4th of July is an exciting time for our friends over the pond – fireworks, monster burgers, buffalo wings, fried chicken, plenty of beer and just a grand old time. Whether you’re an American celebrating in Dublin or just want to get in on the fun after a day at work, here are some ways you can celebrate 4th of July in Dublin, the American way.

Fried chicken superiority!

Who doesn’t love fried chicken? Crispy golden goodness… it really is delicious any time of year, but as an ode to our American friends who brought it over, there are a handful of spots in Dublin that do it really well.

Firebyrd is home to some of Dublin’s most delicious Nashville fried chicken, and you can get their crispy wings, fries and a drink for only €15 all week! They’ve got plenty of dishes that will certainly make our fellow Americans nostalgic, like their pimento mac and cheese, some golden, crispy tater tots, and their impressive selection of hot sauces. Firebyrd’s fried chicken tenders and burgers are equally as indulgent – the Nashville hot chicken burger is calling our name…

Mad Egg are known for their monster fried chicken burgers – come here hungry and you’re guaranteed to leave satisfied. Give their house craft beer a go to pair perfectly with your fried chicken, and make sure to order a handful of sauces to dip your tater tots into. Your 4th of July in Dublin just got that much better!

Chicken Wings Galore

Wings are a much-loved staple in many a restaurant in Ireland, but a really delicious wing is hard to come by. Here are some of our favourite spots for some tasty wings in Dublin.

Like we said above, Firebyrd is running a deal all week for wings, fries and a drink for only €15. Known for their impressive range of sauces, you can get your wings in the classic buffalo style if that’s your vibe, but get adventurous and try the habanero peach, the garlic parmesan or be a daredevil and try their infamous ghost pepper wings. Pre-warning – they are scary spicy, so beware!

Head to Wishbone for some flavourful buffalo wings – with a range of dips to choose from to dampen down the heat and some cocktails to pair with them, spending your 4th of July here will make the Americans proud.

Elephant & Castle are famous for their classic buffalo wings – a portion of these will keep you full for hours and a pitcher of their house lemonades will go down an absolute treat alongside them!

BBQ For The Win

Smokin Bones is great for the much-loved American staple of barbecued meats. This spot is definitely not for the faint-hearted – a meal at Smokin Bones requires a post-food coma nap. This 4th of July, you can order any BBQ Dish with 2 sides and a pint for only €23.95!

Nothing sounds better than some post-work tipple and a bit of a BBQ, and The Odeon have you covered on all accounts. With a live DJ playing all the best tunes on their terrace, you can head to the Odeon on July 4th and enjoy their beer and BBQ combo for only €19.95! Bring your friends and enjoy the evening in style.

One of Dublin’s first BBQ joints, Pitt Bros is the spot for some smokey grilled grub. A simple menu is a good menu, and the range of grilled meat options sound delectable – smoked brisket, the original Pitt Bros ribs, and their side options? Incredible (did someone say loaded mac & fries?) If you can’t pick just one thing, try their Meat Feast options – a tray with a combo of their BBQ meats and sides.

If you’re trying to celebrate 4th of July in Dublin at home, get the grill out and cook up a storm with Fallon & Byrne’s All American BBQ Bundle! They’ve got all the goods to make a killer feast, including Wagyu burgers, hot dogs, potato salad and cornbread – the American dream. Gather your mates and get the BBQ going, your neighbours will be jealous!

The Stella Diner

Get yourself that authentic American diner experience at The Stella Diner! All day breakfast is to be expected here – order a stack of thick American pancakes, some bacon and a portion of home fries, just to cover all the bases. If breakfast for dinner is not your style, you can enjoy their tasty hot dogs or burgers, but make sure to finish off your visit with a slice of their decadent pies (and a cup of Jo!). Let’s make the Americans proud.

I’m a Palestinian who grew up in Cyprus and moved to Dublin in 2013, so I’ve had a mishmash of different cultures and cuisines surrounding me my whole life. I’m an avid foodie, and after realising that life as a lawyer was not for me, I studied media and became a radio host for Dublin City FM. I’m now writing for TheTaste full time, but I also have my own food blog where you can find a mixture of restaurant reviews and the occasional recipe. I talk a lot about being Palestinian; to be honest, I talk a lot in general. That’s why I did radio!
