Tullamore D.E.W. Trilogy

I almost thought it was Christmas when a heavy box arrived for me and if anyone is thinking ahead, hint hint this is what you can get me… A beautiful wooden box, upon lifting the lid I found an exclusive bottle of Tullamore D.E.W Trilogy…

This is a limited edition whiskey with only 9,000 bottles in existence. What is so special about this one? Well it is all behind the name Tullamore D.E.W Trilogy, they took trilogy and ran with it. It is a triple distilled whiskey, a triple blend of pot still, grain & malt whiskies and uses three different barrel finishes (rum, bourbon & sherry) all of this was inspired by three generations of the Williams family, owners of an independent family distillery.

Did I mention it is a 15 year old blend of their “oldest, richest & smoothest Irish Whiskies”?

I was almost afraid to open it, it was so beautiful but temptation proved too strong and the bottle was swiftly uncorked.

The aromas were stunning with notes of spice, oak and delicate notes of tropical fruits such as figs and dried apricots with a lovely nutty edge.

The aromas glided onto the palate in a lovely warm and creamy way giving a slightly seductive mouthfeel. It is a full bodied whiskey with a lot of depth to it and a long length that has a lovely spiciness on the finish.

This is a whiskey you won’t want to put down. A well-crafted whiskey that echoes its journey from still to cask to bottle.

Available in The Celtic Whiskey Shop, Dublin Airport and the Tullamore D.E.W. Visitor Centre. €65
