A luxury resort in the Maldives is about to give sleeping with the fishes an entirely new meaning, with new underwater accommodation.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is building a €15 million two-story hotel villa, with part of the villa sitting 16.4 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean.

Believed to be the world’s first underwater residence, the resort is due to be completed and open to the public by this November.

Named ‘The Muraka’, which means “coral” in the local tongue, is “a triumph of modern design and technology” and the 2-storey residence “features integrated living above and below the ocean”.

As if the experience of being underwater wasn’t exciting enough in itself, the resort villa will also have a team of butlers at your beck and call, as well as a dining and entertaining space.
