Three Wines from M&S to Cosy Up on this Stormy Weekend

Three Wines from M&S to Cosy Up on this Stormy Weekend

With a stormy weekend ahead, the idea of cosying up with a glass of wine sounds just lovely. This week Marks & Spencer introduced its range of wines for the Autumn/Winter season and there was many a bottle worthy of our prime time weekend sipping.

From party-perfect sparkling to elegant whites and reds from the world’s finest producing regions, we discovered plenty of reasons to take even longer while strolling through the retailer’s inviting shelves.

Below, three of our top picks from Marks & Spencer, ideal to try this weekend…

BARGAIN BEAUTY

Three Wines from MandS to Cosy Up on this Stormy Weekend featuredViñalta Malbec 2016

13.5% ABV

€12.50 – Available at M&S

This is what I like to call a reliable red. A wine you can take to your friends and that will get along with everyone. It comes from the Malbec capital of the world, Mendoza, in Argentina, and thanks to the vineyard’s high altitude it has a freshness that sets it apart.

Aromas of ripe blackberries and a spicy touch of black pepper match the palate, where a smooth texture and moderate tannins complete the profile of a fine example of why the style is so well liked.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Three Wines from MandS to Cosy Up on this Stormy Weekend featuredPalataia Pinot Noir 2016

13.5% ABV

€14.80 – Available at M&S

A delicate Pinot Noir from the German region of Pfalz that will be perfect for those who enjoy reds with plenty of fruit and softness of tannin.

Juicy and with a generous and fresh combination of cherries, ripe strawberries and sharp pomegranate, it it plum and vibrant, with a berry-like acidity that swiftly invites you to another sip.

GOLDEN INDULGENCE

Three Wines from MandS to Cosy Up on this Stormy Weekend featuredPacific Heights Chardonnay 2015

14.5% ABV

€23.50 – Available at M&S

A “wow wine” that delivers the buttery pleasures of Californian Chardonnay while retaining freshness. Coming from a region known for the quality of its Chardonnay, it lives up to its credentials.

Expect notes of almond croissant, lemon meringue tart and green apples, all wrapped in a pleasant creamy texture. On the palate, a touch of vanilla and a delicate toastiness tell the story of its 5 months in oak.
