Los Vascos Grande Reserve 2010
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carmenère, 10% Syrah, 5 % Malbec
This week’s “Wine of the Week” isn’t just any Chilean wine, it is a wine managed by the prestigious Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) one of the elite houses from Bordeaux. With ungrafted pre-phylloxera Bordeaux rootstock being used and the unique micro climate in Colchagua they more than deliver an elegant wine with sophistication.
This wine offers a complex and exquisite nose, with aromas of blueberries, cherries, blackberries, leather and pepper. Add some liquorice, hints of chocolate with a nutty undertone and a touch pencil shavings, you have one sublime nose.
It has a silky, velvety texture with a full and lush yet restrained body. The tannin although present is not catching. All the fantastic aromas curl onto the palate beautifully giving you a delicious wine with a super long length.
Decant this wine to maximize its beauty. It will pair well with steak or a roast.
