'Irish Whiskey Brand Ambassador of the Year' award win for Tullamore D.E.W.

‘Irish Whiskey Brand Ambassador of the Year’ award win for Tullamore D.E.W.

Tim Herlihy, Tullamore D.E.W. US Ambassador, has been declared a whiskey “Icon” as he became the first ever winner of the ‘Irish Whiskey Brand Ambassador of the Year’ award, announced Saturday, 19 September, during the American Icons of Whisky Awards at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival.

The accolade has particular importance, as whiskey industry experts nominated and voted for their icons online, with Whisky Magazine making the final decision. Tim was chosen by his peers for his enthusiasm, knowledge and personality – beating out strong competition from brand ambassadors for Bushmills, Kilbeggan Distillery and 2 Gingers.

Over the years, ‘Tullamore Tim’ has become a True Character in the whiskey world, building impressive credentials and raising awareness of Irish whiskey at home and abroad. Tim began his whiskey career at the Cooley Distillery and has travelled to distilleries both in Ireland and overseas to study firsthand the history of whiskey and the craftsmanship involved in creating it.

Speaking on his win, Tim said:

I’m incredibly honoured to be named Irish Whiskey Brand Ambassador of the Year, and to be in such great company – all the nominees are people I respect greatly. I believe that it’s important to be passionate about what you do, and whiskey has always fascinated me. I’m very thankful to Tullamore D.E.W. for giving me the opportunity to talk about, and share, my passion with others for a living. It’s a pleasure to work with a brand that’s as enthusiastic about whiskey as I am“.

In his role as Tullamore D.E.W. Ambassador, Tim has presented at numerous whiskey and cocktail events across the country, including WhiskyFest and Tales of the Cocktail. A natural raconteur and never at a loss for a toast, Tim travels the US educating, entertaining and sharing his passion for Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey.

This is the first stage of the awards, which now move on to the Scotland and to the ‘Rest of World’ stages. The winners from each heat will then compete in the final global stage, which is announced next March in London.
