Lebanese journalist and author of the award-winning Wines of Lebanon, Michael Karam will host Ireland’s first tutored tasting of Lebanese wines on the 26th of October. The event is part of a global initiative known as the “Wine Traveller” programme, in which Michael has shown Lebanese wines at tastings and dinners in the Far East, the US and Europe over the past two years.
The event will be open to the public from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and it will feature a white and a red wine from each of the six participating producers: Château Kefraya, Château Ksara, Château St Thomas, Domaine des Tourelles, Domaine Wardy, and Ixsir.
The wines will reflect Lebanon’s diversity with some of the most exciting blends on the market, including the ancient and indigenous Obeideh and Lebanon’s first “old vine” Cinsault.
Around 50% of Lebanon’s 9-million bottle production is exported, and Michael now aims to bring the country’s wines to a wider audience. “These wines are really special, with a great back story and made with exciting varieties, so I’m hoping that we can make a real impact, especially in the independents and the on-trade,” he said.
The Lebanese wine event will take place in On the Grapevine, 26 Castle Street, Dalkey.
