The MICHELIN Guide Inspectors have revealed their latest ‘Dishes of the Month’ for July, spotlighting the standout plates that made a lasting impression during their recent travels, and last month a West Cork restaurant made the cut.
The Inspectors were impressed by Adrift Restaurant at Dunmore House in Clonakilty, which focuses on local ingredients, including some from the hotel’s own organic garden. Adrift is listed as a recommended restaurant in the MICHELIN Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2025.
The Guide says that the monthly best dishes “could be the most creative dish they ate, something that hit the right note at just the right time or simply the one that stuck in their memory for the longest.”
Galley Head Lobster, Tomato Water, Garden Herbs – Adrift, Dunmore House

The Michelin Inspector commented:
“The ethos of this restaurant is to use as much local produce as possible, and this simple-looking dish fulfilled that philosophy with aplomb. Galley Head is just a 20-minute drive from the restaurant and provides the kitchen with wonderfully sweet lobster. The meaty tail and softer claw meat had a good textural contrast, while the shellfish flavour was perfectly complemented by a sweet-sour tomato water. Fresh herb leaves from the kitchen garden offered a lovely fragrance to finish off such a harmonious and wholly enjoyable starter.”
