Walsh Whiskey Distillery Releases Super Premium Vintage of Writers’ Tears Cask Strength
Walsh Whiskey Distillery has released its super premium 2017 vintage of Writers’ Tears Cask Strength. The release is limited to 5,280 bottles, which are available in selected international markets, including Italy, France, Holland, Switzerland, and both the Irish domestic and Travel Retail markets.
The 2017 vintage marks a new departure for the first time since the first Writers’ Tears Cask Strength release in 2011. With a completely new packaging design, it links the artistic essence of Writers’ Tears to the creativity of whiskey distilling through a stunning chalkboard illustration by Irish illustrator, Linda Byrne.
It depicts the field-to-bottle creation of whiskey and the rural influence of age-old whiskey traditions.
Writers’ Tears Cask Strength 2017 was recognised with a gold medal in the Irish Cask Strength Whiskey category, mere hours after it was officially launched on the market.
A rare cask strength vatting of Single Pot Still & Single Malt, with each bottle carrying a unique number and the signature of Walsh Whiskey founder Bernard Walsh.
Writers’ Tears Cask Strength 2017 is natural non-chill filtered and was bottled at 53% in August 2017. Describing this year’s cask strength release of Writers’ Tears, Bernard Walsh said:
“This whiskey displays a depth in flavour bursting with complexity and flavour. Elegant notes of dark chocolate and rich blackberries precede subtle summer fruits and sweet barley, while hints of butterscotch and rich toasted wood giving way to a bold and intense finish.
We are proud that the new design very much ties the creativity of Writers’ Tears with the creativity of whiskey innovation. I hope the lucky few who acquire this release enjoy every moment.”
