Foodies and fitness fans alike can rejoice as Dublin’s Northside is getting a fantastic new vegan and vegetarian restaurant Veginity and it’s opening today!
With people becoming more health conscious and looking for meat-free yet flavourful food it’s no wonder so many tasty vegan and vegetarian dishes are popping up across the city.
Gone are the days when the veggie option on the menu was an underwhelming pasta dish. One of the people we can thank for the inventive and exciting new dishes in our city is Mark Senn.
The Australian chef has over 20 years experience as a vegetarian chef. Creating sumptuous vegan and vegetarian food became a passion for the talented chef when, after becoming vegetarian, he realised how limited vegetarian options were in restaurants.
After moving to Dublin he set up Veginity. It began its life as a plant based food truck set in a cool industrial warehouse in Portobello. The acclaimed street food truck has won numerous awards – in 2016 Veginity was awarded the ‘Best Street Food Award’.
Today sees the official end of an era but also a new beginning as Mark is moving on from the food truck in Portobello and is opening his brand new restaurant on Dorset Street.
Mark has perfected his veggie and vegan cooking skills working in reputable vegan restaurants such as London’s Mildred’s of Soho. He also is the author of ‘Losing my Veginity’ and runs his own plant based YouTube cooking channel.
Mark is a familiar face on the food scene in Dublin as he’s the person behind Vish.Shop, the massively popular street food truck in Eatyard serving up delicious plant based fish alternatives. Customer favourite Vish™ is Veginity’s version of fish and chips made with wild seaweed and cassava.
Veginity will be open from 5pm today and is sure to be a welcome addition to the area. Make sure you pop down for some mouth-watering dishes.
