One of the most exciting and fun activities of this year’s Spanish Wine Week, was surely the White and Sparkling Wine and Tapas Trail, which took place on Wednesday 25th of April and the The Surprising Rioja Wine and Tapas Trails, which took place on Thursday April 26th.
Guests were treated to the opportunity to taste vibrant and surprising wines from different Spanish regions, accompanied by mouth-watering tapas, carefully chosen to enhance and complement the wines.
On the first evening, a sparkling time was had travelling between Saba, Piglet and Klaw Poké. The first stop saw guests indulge in tapas with Asian flair at the popular Thai eatery, matched with Albariño wine from Rias Baixas and a taste of a fresh and summery white from Ribeiro.
Next, to a haven for wine lovers in Temple Bar, Piglet offered a taste of organic Cava from a small producer as well as an innovative blend from the region of Valencia alongside delicious Mediterranean bites.
The evening finished on a high note in the stylish Klaw Poké on Capel Street with Godello and a multi award-winning white from Rueda, one of the Spanish white wine regions par excellence. Both of these tempting tipples were paired with Klaw’s signature seafood offering.
The following night saw the beautiful wines of Rioja take centre stage with the experts from Fab Food Trails leading the tour. Kicking off in Urchin at The Cliff Townhouse, the evening began with very special and award-winning white Rioja followed by a refreshing and youthful red, each accompanied by tapas inspired by the ocean.
Next, to Ely, guests toasted with Rosé with a Spanish accent, or Rosado, as well as a show-stopping Reserva paired with modern tapas crafted with the finest ingredients.
The trail came to a delightful end at Piglet with a taste of a vibrant and modern Crianza and a very special Gran Reserva with delicious tapas of Mediterranean inspiration to match.
