Seafood Restaurant Matt the Thresher to Reopen 150-Year-Old Inn in Meath

It’s good news for seafood lovers in Meath – popular Dublin seafood restaurant Matt the Thresher announced some exciting expansion plans with the news that they have acquired The Lime Kiln, a beloved local gastropub in Julianstown, Co Meath.

Over the coming months, Matt the Thresher owners Jimmy & Charlotte Lyons will be giving a fresh new look to the 150-year-old roadside inn, rebranding it as Matt the Thresher Julianstown. They’ll also be introducing a brand-new Village Bakery & Deli, replacing the existing Pantry Café.

Known for their focus on using the very best of Irish ingredients with a particular focus on Irish seafood, the new Julianstown kitchen team will be led by Matt The Thresher executive chef Ronaldo Valentim and head chef Antonino Luciano. Matt the Thresher Julianstown will be open seven days a week.

The Lime Kiln will continue to run until March 30th, after which they’ll temporarily close to revamp the space—before reopening in May 2025 with “a new look and experience.”

This marks the third Matt the Thresher restaurant – originating in Birdhill, Co. Tipperary with its Dublin location thriving since 2011.
