Restaurants, Bar and Market Under One Roof at Cork’s New The Cornmarket Co-op

Ireland’s newest indoor market, The Cornmarket Co-op, opened its doors this summer in Cork, housed in the beautiful Bodega in the original St. Peter’s Market – on the historic Cornmarket Street in the Old Town.

Cork has always been synonymous with great food and in this vein, a new trail is being blazed regarding how food is offered in the flagship venue of the Cork Heritage Pubs collection – Bodega @ St. Peter’s Market, recently announced as “Best designed bar” in Ireland at the Sky Bar of the Year Awards 2016.

While there are countless food outlets across the city and county, coupled with a huge selection of Farmers Markets, never before have the two met. The Cornmarket Co-op is a space where great food can be purchased directly from the producer and enjoyed in the comfort of the Bodega! A whole host of excellent food is available catering for all interests, tastes and palates.

Current suppliers include: White Rabbit BBQ, GemSushi, Brendan’s Burritos, Toastie Co, serving gourmet grilled cheese, Botanica & Co. Dairy Free Smoothies, and artisan bakery Gas Mark Seven.

The concept is simple, great food in one of the most impressive buildings in the city. The added bonus is that The Cornmarket Co-op supports the development of smaller food businesses and culinary start-ups too. With a wide array of tasty, local food available the days of trying to pick a restaurant that suits the whole family, group, or party is over, and with seating and a full bar all the options are covered!

The Cornmarket Co-op currently runs from Thursday to Sunday, 11am – 9pm, with brunch becoming a speciality, served from 11pm – 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Organisers are continually on the hunt for new suppliers and say they have big plans over the coming months. Keep a close eye on The Cornmarket Co-op on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on changing menus, and vendor news.
