Redbreast and The Horseshoe Bar — explore one living legacy inside the rich red walls of another.
Redbreast is currently the largest selling single pot still Irish whiskey in the world, built on a loyal following of ‘those in the know’, and is considered the definitive expression of the traditional Irish spirit.
A partnership with The Horseshoe Bar in The Shelbourne is running from February, this is an ideal pairing of two historic icons. Redbreast is one of a handful of single pot still whiskeys in existence today and one of only two to have been produced almost continuously since the early 1900s. Single pot still whiskeys are historically unique to Ireland, as is one of The Shelbourne’s treasures, The Horseshoe Bar. It has always been a destination and an institution, warm and intimate and the perfect place to explore some of the country’s finest whiskey in an atmospheric setting.
The Redbreast partnership will have a number of different elements, including tasting flights, masterclasses with Ger Garland, Midleton Whiskey Specialist and Deirdre O’Carroll, Blender at Midleton Distillery and a special gift box available to buy that includes three fine whiskeys and one of The Shelbourne’s bullet glasses.
Tasting flights are available from February 1st to March 12th and there are two to choose from. The Signature Flight includes tastings of Redbreast 12-year-old, Redbreast 15-year-old and Redbreast Lustau and is available for €30 per person, and the Premium Flight showcases Redbreast 15-year-old, Redbreast 21-year-old and Redbreast 27-year-old for €75 per person. All guests who enjoy one of the Redbreast tasting flights will get a Redbreast specialty cocktail menu in booklet format to keep as a souvenir.
There is also the opportunity to purchase a gift box with three 50ml bottles of some of Ireland’s most celebrated single pot still whiskeys, Redbreast 12-year-old, Redbreast 15-year-old and Redbreast Lustau from Midleton Distillery with a Redbreast lapel pin and a Shelbourne bullet glass for €50.
The Masterclass with Ger Garland and Deirdre O’Carroll, will take place in the Horseshoe Bar on the 21st February, a ticketed event beginning with a welcome Redbreast cocktail on arrival, a guided tasting of the Premium Flight, and a gift bag including the three-bottle selection pack and The Shelbourne’s bullet glass, available for €150 per person through Eventbrite.
