The perfect mixture between a burger and a cheese toastie, the Gubbeen Patty Melt has launched at Hawksmoor and it looks absolutely delicious
Hawksmoor has been doing better than ever since opening their first Dublin location last year. Offering great steak with the best quality Irish beef, it’s been a welcome addition to the Dublin restaurant scene.
They have launched a handful of new lunch specials, taking your work lunch breaks to the next level. These new specials take inspiration from all over the world, from 3-starred Michelin restaurants to Renaissance Italy.
First off, there is the all new Flat Iron Steak. Served in the style of the most iconic restaurant in 1930s Geneva, Café de Paris, this delectable steak is served with beef dripping fries and a refreshing side salad. A great way to treat yourself to a delicious steak without breaking the bank, this dish comes in at only €21. You can take it up a notch and order the Rump Steak, which comes with the same sides but will be a little more filling, at €27.
If you still want to enjoy a meat-y lunch but aren’t in the mood for a steak, Hawksmoor have introduced the Beef-steak pudding, inspired by one of Charles Dickens’ characters, Martin Chuzzlewit. Enjoy a braised short rib with red wine and Longueville house cider Brandy, mixed with winter vegetables, and steamed in a traditional Suet pastry crust – delicious. This dish comes with beef dripping chips, mushy peas and gravy, for the ultimate cosy lunch, at only €23.
The plant-based folk among us are not left out of the picture, with a Salt-baked celeriac making an appearance, served with Hen of the Woods mushrooms, marjoram and whipped cashew ‘ricotta’, for only €18.
If you’re not in the mood for steak but still want an enjoyable lunch, get all the smokey flavours from Hawksmoor’s charcoal-roasted hake, with vinegar peppers and fresh basil, for €21.
After their recent collaboration with Tayto to create the ultimate ham and cheese toastie (available until the end of March), their newest addition – The Gubbeen Patty Melt – is certainly exciting. The patty melt was invented in LA in the 1950s by William Wallace ‘Tiny’ Naylor, and it has made its way to Hawksmoor’s new lunch menu. Using their famous burger patty, rich, nutty Gubbeen cheese and mozzarella have been added for maximum cheese-pull effect. All of this deliciousness is squished into some buttery Texas Toast for the ultimate indulgent lunch. This tasty dish comes in at €19, and is served with gherkin ketchup and shoestring onions – drooling.
These items are now on the menu and available during their lunch hours, Monday to Saturday – we will be heading there ASAP.
