Kilkenny city’s Left Bank bar has tonight been awarded Best Gastro Pub of the Year at the prestigious Sky Bar of the Year Awards 2016.

Left Bank, located on The Parade in Kilkenny city, had been nominated in three categories for the Sky Pub of the Year Awards: Best Gastro Pub of the Year, Best City Bar of the Year and Best Designed Bar/Inside Space of the Year. The award for Best Gastro Pub of the Year comes less than three months after winning Best Gastro Bar for Leinster in the Restaurant of the Year Awards.

There was much celebration undertaken with Brewery Corner Kilkenny which won Best Craft Bar of the Year.

The Sky Bar of the Year Awards is dedicated to raising the profile of businesses within the licensed trade and highlighting the best pubs and bars throughout the country. The winners were announced tonight at a gala awards ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House. Accepting the award on behalf of Left Bank were Peter Brady and Gillian Byrne.

Formerly the Bank of Ireland building on The Parade, Left Bank opened in 2008 and added Rive Gauche at Left Bank in 2015. It employs 70 full-time and seasonal staff. Left Bank, and its sister eatery Rive Gauche at Left Bank, serves lunch seven days a week from noon to 4.30pm and recently added to its talented kitchen team that is now ten-strong. Left Bank will next month launch a new first-floor cocktail bar.
