Jose Cuervo Raises Spirits, Giving Irish Revelers The Chance To ‘Roast The Ghost’ With Day Of The Dead Celebrations

Sponsored

To celebrate Day of the Dead this weekend (November 1 and 2), Ireland’s number one tequila, Jose Cuervo is on a mission to bring one of the fiesta’s oldest traditions – the Calaverita – to life.

A Calaverita is light-hearted Mexican rhyming verse, written in dedication to a loved one, often to poke fun, and get them in the spirit for the colourful Day of the Dead celebrations.

Leaning into this legendary Mexican tradition, Cuervo has created a fun Calaverita Generator to help people ‘roast their ghosts’ for Day of the Dead 2024.

Powered by AI, the quirky online tool features a short quiz, probing you on seven simple questions about the person you want to roast. The Generator’s algorithm then gets to work, creating your personalised Calaverita, dedicated to your friend, family member, or colleague, and helping you unleash your inner comedian.

Day of the Dead is one of Mexico’s oldest and most iconic holidays, and Jose Cuervo will bring this tradition to life across Ireland this weekend, encouraging people to experience the culture, cocktails, and camaraderie of the celebration.

This weekend, the Cuervo Crew will bring the digital experience to life in person, popping up in selected venues across Dublin and Belfast this weekend, encouraging people to create their Calaveritas to roast their friends.

In the run up to Day of the Dead, people that create and share their personalised Calaveritas tagging @JoseCuervoIrl on Instagram, will be in with a chance to win Cuervo swag and prizes.

Look out for the Cuervo crew in selected pubs and venues in Dublin and Belfast this Day of the Dead weekend, including:

Dublin: Friday 1 November

To kickstart, the Day of the Dead celebrations, Mariachi San Patricio, Ireland’s only Mexican/Irish mariachi band, will pop up for special performances at Smyth’s in Ranelagh between 7-9pm. The Cuervo Crew will help people get into the DOTD spirit at Smyth’s and later that evening at Yamamori Izakaya on Great St George’s Street, helping people create their own Calaveritas with spot prizes and Cuervo swag up for grabs for the first 50 that join the fun in each venue.

Saturday 2 November

In Dublin, on Saturday 2 November, the Cuervo Crew will drop in to El Silencio on Clarendon Market in Dublin at 9pm to mark Day of the Dead, offering free margaritas for people that get into the DOTD spirit.
