Committed to supporting and nurturing Irish literary talent for the past 50 years, Hennessy, one of Ireland’s best known and cherished brands, today announces its partnership with the Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas 2016. This year’s festival takes place in Borris House from Friday, 10th June to Sunday, 12th June, bringing with it a weekend of stimulating dialogue and discourse from intriguing minds from Ireland and across the world.
As part of the partnership, Hennessy will host a Hennessy stage in The Granary at Borris House. The Hennessy at the Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas stage will play host to a number of authors, poets, artists, photographers, designers and great minds including actor Simon Callow, photographer Giles Duley, novelist Harry Parker, Alexandra Pringle, group editor-in-chief of Bloomsbury, human rights lawyer Jason McCue and war correspondent Janine di Giovanni and American-British television presenter and gastronome Loyd Grossman, among many others. Some of Ireland’s leading journalists will chair events on stage including Sophie Gorman and Olivia O’Leary. Previous Hennessy Literary Award winner, Simon Lewis, will also take to the Hennessy stage to present his new work, which was inspired by and enabled by his emerging poetry win at the Hennessy Literary Awards in 2015.
Hennessy will also host a Hennessy dinner on Friday, 10th June for speakers and specially invited guests in Borris House. The evening will commence with Hennessy cocktails in the Lace Garden, followed by dinner in The Granary.
Commenting on the partnership, Elaine Cullen, market development manager for Moët Hennessy Ireland said, “This year, Hennessy celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Hennessy Literary Awards, so it seemed fitting that we extend our support of Irish literary talent to new arenas and the Borris Festival of Writing and Ideas seemed like the perfect fit. This partnership not only cements Hennessy’s commitment to Irish literary talent, it also provides us with a new forum to contribute to Ireland’s thirst for great literature, intriguing minds and open discourse.”
Adding to this, Vivienne Guinness, co-founder of the festival said: “The Festival of Writing and Ideas is thrilled to begin a partnership with Hennessy. Hennessy’s vital investment and commitment to rewarding excellence in writing, through the Hennessy Literary Awards, has championed emerging writers with integrity and dedication for over 45 years. Indeed, the flourishing scene of young writers in Ireland of international calibre must in part be credited to the brand’s consistent, trailblazing support.”
