A Taste of West Cork Food Festival has been named Foodie Destination of the year by the Restaurants Association of Ireland. The festival, which takes place this September 8th to 17th, has over 230 events across 36 towns & villages.
The Top 5 Foodie Destinations were announced at the Headfort Arms Hotel in Co. Meath last night, with West Cork claiming the crown.
Taking to their Facebook Page, Taste of West Cork shared their delight at winning Foodie Destination of the Year. They said: “Thank you for everyone who played their part in helping the judges to make this decision! We are thrilled!

When choosing a winner, the Foodie Destination of the Year initiative looks for a destination that actively promotes itself through food festivals, gourmet trails or farmers’ markets as well as great dining experiences.
When presenting the award to West Cork, CEO of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Adrian Cummins, commented, “It was incredible to see the high calibre of applications for this year’s Foodie Destinations.
As food tourism grows in popularity – it is great to see so many places putting local food at the forefront of the visitor experience and like West Cork, enhancing their offering year on year.
