Eccles Hotel, located in the picturesque village of Glengarriff, West Cork has just welcomed talented Irish chef Eddie Attwell to its kitchens. The beautiful 250 year old Eccles Hotel boasts stunning views of Bantry Bay and is now home to the culinary prowess of the esteemed chef.

The Armagh native rose to fame during his time on BBC’s ‘Great British Menu’, appearing twice on the show. His first appearance saw Eddie competing for a place to cook at Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday banquet at the Palace of Westminster.

His second time around the chef battled to cook at a banquet celebrating 140 years of the world famous Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Eddie’s passion for cooking came from his mother, a teacher at a local catering college. Also know as “Hurricane Attwell”, Eddie instills his passion for foraging and growing his own produce into his culinary delights.

The acclaimed chef has nearly two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, having gone on to reach the final of the prestigious Roux Scholarship in 2012 and 2013.

Atwell has honed his skills working in top restaurants such as two Michelin starred Lenclume, St.Kyran’s Country House Hotel and Ardtara Country House – voted one of the five best places to stay in Northern Ireland by The National Geographic Traveler Magazine.

Bringing this knowledge and his wealth of experience to Eccles Hotel, Eddie has an intense passion for sourcing the freshest local ingredients. He is an innovative and exciting chef and is a welcome addition to this hidden gem.

With Atwell at the helm, the dedicated team at Eccles Hotel have also put together a brand new all-day bistro menu. Staying true to Eddie’s ethos, the menu is based around locally sourced seasonal produce, with highlights like Cork Gubbeen cheese and freshly caught mussels from Bantry Bay.
