While the northern hemisphere prepares for the harvest, wine producing countries in the southern half of the world are already drinking their 2017 vintages. As fresh and youthful as a wine can be, they come from fruit that was picked between February and April, just when northerner grapes were waking up to spring.
Delheim Chenin 2017 is a treat for the impatient, a mouth watering and vibrant white wine from the prestigious South African region of Stellenbosch, regarded as one of the best areas for the variety.
Pale and bright, it’s a fragrant and delightful fruit basket with plenty of ripe lemons, nectarines, pineapples, green apple and juicy gooseberries.
Its acidity and body are moderate and so is its finish.
It’ll be a fine companion for white fish in a delicate sauce or chicken.
