Last week we saw the opening of a beautiful new bar, Mulligan & Haines, located on 32 Dame Street, Dublin 2. Continuing on the roll of new openings in Dublin, this venue had its soft launch on Wednesday 27th of September.
The interiors, which once were the Dublin Bread Company, are steeped in history and they also have links to the literary world as Mulligan & Haines is now on the very site where Ulysses’ antagonist Buck Mulligan and his companion, Haines, had a famous exchange in the classic.
The whole place, from menu to decor, pays homage to the origins of the building and its history. The drinks menu offers a creative and enticing selection of flavours, and all the drink’s names and combinations are inspired in Ulysses’ ideals or characters. Below a list of the drinks, priced between €9 to €9.50, and what they contain.
Utopia – a caramel and vodka based state of perfection
The Big Buck – a sour whisky mix that packs a kick!
A Lot Like Love… – a dry orange and sweet white chocolate mix
Damn The Weather – a cocktail for amateur meteorologists and gin enthusiasts alike
Mulligan Martini – a fresh take on the traditional Gin and Juice
Rum Tum Tiddley Tum – It’s crazy. It shouldn’t work but it it does
Strawberry Prince – Regal and refreshing vodka based cocktail
Sweet city – For those who hold Dublin and sweetened vodka in equally high regard
Mulligan & Haines features three beautiful floors where an old school charm and elegance create a comfortable and sophisticated feeling.
Besides great cocktails, they promise to be a place for brilliant sandwiches and delicious food, as well as artisan baked goods.
