A dish and a glass. A perfect late winter treat and an absolute delight this February, pair chef Barry Sun’s dumplings with a glass of crisp white, selected by sommelier and general manager Darren Darcy, and enjoy the clever combination at the bar counter in cosy Volpe Nera.
Intensely flavourful and deeply comforting, versions of Barry’s cep dumplings with aged soya, fennel and herb have been a favourite with guests since the restaurant opened in 2019. Darren has paired them with a glass of Callejuela ‘Blanco de Hornillos’ from Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Spain, a dry, fresh and light white wine with a distinctive saline character. The wine complements both the delicate texture and savoury taste profile of the dumplings and the umami flavour of the aged soya consommé.
There’s only two seats at the bar though, so whether you’re after a quick and comforting dish on a winter evening, or you just fancy something delicious without having to cook it yourself, this late winter treat is available Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm until 9pm — come along to enjoy solo or bring a pal. They take bookings or walks-ins.
This dish and glass offer is available throughout the month of February for €21, with any additional wine at €10 per 150mls glass.
