Raise a glass to the return of Spanish Food & Wine Week, running this year from October 4th-10th in restaurants, bars and shops around the country.

Celebrating a good year for Spanish wines as their share of the Irish wine market grew to 15.4% in 2020, just ahead of Australia’s 13.8% share, the 6th annual Spanish Food & Wine Week will host its usual mix of informative and entertaining wine tastings and dinners nationwide. 

Kicking off the week in Circa restaurant on Monday 4th,wine writer and Irish Times restaurant critic, Corinna Hardgrave hosts a six-course Spanish wine dinner. In Kildare,  John Wilson Irish Times wine writer will present a selection of wines at an exclusive wine tasting in Carton House, in the stunning setting of The Duke’s Rest wine room,  while Tuesday sees beloved Dublin institution La Cave host Jean Smullen for a fun evening of Spanish food & wine. Sherry lovers are in for a treat on Wednesday with John Wilson and Blanca Valencia leading a sherry tasting in the Port House while across town Matthew Nugent will be in the Tolka House hosting an informative evening of Spanish wine. Leslie Williams hosts a Spanish wine dinner in The Mustard Seed, Ballingarry, on Wednesday 6th October and in Solas, Dingle on Thursday 7th October. Liss Ard Estate in beautiful west cork will host a wine dinner with Corinna Hardgrave on Thursday 7th October while in Dublin Erica Drumm and Blanca Valencia host an exciting Spanish wine and food event in Honest 2 Goodness. Prepare to fall in love with the very on trend canned seafood with Blanca Valencia on Friday 8th October at Glyde Inn. To close Spanish Food & Wine Week in style, West restaurant at The Twelve Hotel in Galway will host a journey thought Spain presented by one of Ireland’s top sommeliers Fergus O’Halloran. From Wednesday to Saturday during Spanish Food & Wine Week, Volpe Nera in Blackrock will be offering guests a glass of sherry on arrival and a glass of moscatel to round off their dinner. For those who want to celebrate Spanish Food & Wine week from the comfort of their own home, The Nude Wine Co. will be hosting a virtual wine course ‘The Secrets of Spain’ on Friday 8th October. 

The week is also a chance to shine a light on restaurants and retailers who are flying the flag for Spanish food and wines with discounts, offers and promotions available across the country. The WineHouse, The NudeWine Co., Whelehans, 64 Wines and Ampersand Wines are just some of the shops who will all offer extra incentives and offers during the week, giving guests the opportunity to feel the passion and learn more about Spanish wines. 

A fascinating programme to educate, inspire and showcase the impressive variety and diversity of Spanish winemaking regions, grapes, flavours and Spanish food, Spanish Food and Wine Week runs from October 4th to October 10th and is open to all restaurants and wine retailers who wish to join in the spirit of Spanish Food & Wine Week 2021.
