MICHELIN Keys Awarded to 14 of Ireland’s Finest Hotels

Congratulations are in order for 14 Irish hotels as the MICHELIN Guide has revealed its inaugural One, Two and Three Key distinctions for exceptional hotels in the UK and Ireland. This exciting announcement marks the culmination of a four-year revamp of the MICHELIN Guide’s hotel selection, now encompassing over 5,000 extraordinary hotels worldwide.

Ireland is now home to 14 MICHELIN Key venues across the One, Two and Three Key categories.

Two ultra-luxurious Irish hotels, Adare Manor and Ballyfin Demesne, have been awarded the highest honour of Three Michelin Keys, positioning these incredible five star resorts amongst the very best hotels in the world.

General Manager of Ballyfin Demesne, Peter White commented; ‘We are absolutely delighted to be one of the first Irish hotels to receive three Michelin Keys this morning. At Ballyfin Demesne, we strive for excellence in everything we do and to be recognised by Michelin is very special for all the team. With this three Michelin Keys accolade, we will continue to strive to be the very best to ensure our guests enjoy unforgettable experiences every time they visit.’

The opulent Cashel Palace, Kenmare’s ever charming Sheen Falls Lodge and iconic five star Dublin property The Merrion have been awarded Two Michelin Keys for excellence.

Dotted across Ireland, 9 fantastic hotels secured One Michelin Key:

Ballyvaughan: Gregans Castle Hotel
Ardmore: Cliff House Hotel
Castlemartyr: Castlemartyr Resort
Dublin: Dylan
Dublin: Wilder Townhouse Dublin
Killarney: The Killarney Park
Killarney: The Victoria
Limerick: No. 1 Pery Square
Newmarket on Fergus: Dromoland Castle

Each hotel has undergone rigorous assessment by MICHELIN Guide experts, judged on five key criteria:

  • Architecture and Interior Design: Aesthetic excellence and thoughtful design.
  • Quality and Consistency of Service: Impeccable service delivered consistently.
  • Overall Personality and Character: A unique and memorable identity.
  • Value for the Price: A fair balance between cost and the overall experience.
  • Significant Contribution to the Guest Experience: Creating a special and meaningful stay.

The coveted MICHELIN Keys, much like MICHELIN Stars for restaurants, represent the pinnacle of hotel excellence. These awards are the result of countless hours of anonymous evaluations by MICHELIN Guide Inspectors.

For 2024, the MICHELIN Guide has bestowed these prestigious awards upon 14 Three Key hotels, 37 Two Key hotels, and 72 One Key hotels across Great Britain and Ireland.
