A 1920’s Champagne Bar Pop-Up Has Arrived in Galway

The festive season is fast coming into full swing, and a new pop-up experience at the g Hotel in Galway is the perfect excuse for Christmas celebrations.

The g Hotel has launched its new Marlene Dietrich Bollinger Champagne Bar Pop-Up Experience, inspired by the legendary actress who famously said that her favourite meal combination was “champagne and hot dogs.” It’s a curious combination but a great one—the bubbles and acidity of the champagne cut through the richness of the hot dog perfectly.

This new pop-up experience offers a “curated menu with a playful twist”. Enjoy Bollinger cocktails and a variety of champagne options, complemented by a casual dining menu that includes Gatsby-themed dishes and a selection of gourmet hot dogs, aptly named ‘The Marlene’ which comes with mustard, crispy onions & homemade ketchup, and ‘The Grand Gatsby’ with melted Camembert, honey-caramelized Granny Smith apple, horseradish sauce and crunchy leaves.

Located in the Grand Salon, where Dietrich’s portrait holds a place of honour, this pop-up provides a “chic celebration of taste and elegance.” The Champagne pop-up is available now until mid-January 2025, and the hotel also has a Great Gatsby-inspired afternoon tea which is priced at €49 per person including a glass of bubbly.

We particularly love the g Hotel’s ‘Invisible Cocktail’ option on the menu. It costs €5 and all proceeds go to Galway Hospice, who provide specialist palliative care to adults and children with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
