I tried the viral food trends so you don’t have to (but you probably will)
TikTok made me cook it! I’ve been a recipe developer for over 10 years - here’s what I really think of viral food trends.
"No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present." wrote Home Cooking author Laurie Colwin, in the 1980s. Fast forward to 2024 and we are virtually living in each other’s kitchens via social media. Which is great, if like me, you enjoy a nosey around someone’s kitchen, particularly to investigate what’s in their fridge. But what exactly are we all cooking, or being ‘influenced’ to cook?
Layer a few slices of ham on a plate, add some gherkins and cheese, perhaps a handful of crisps, to me that’s a snack
