Olis 100% Natural skincare
What inspired you to set up your business? Did you notice a gap in the market?
I had been working in a similar business and left to create the most natural and effective products possible for broken and irritated skin conditions on people and also livestock. Subsequently we created some niche products with applications in the agricultural sphere whilst we discovered many new applications for people for existing products. For example OrlDen Herbal Spray originally designed for cattle, horses and dogs to strengthen and condition their coat and promote hair growth has proven to be a brilliant hair detangler and very effective for dry itchy scalp.
How did you set up the business and how has it been growing over time?
When we started in business initially, we offered samples to existing contacts and promoted our business at various events. We set up ecommerce sites, developed trade contacts across Ireland and the UK whilst we gain much repeat business from satisfied customers and word of mouth.
Where do you source the ingredients used to make your product(s)?
We have to go abroad for most of our ingredients in order to source the particular high quality ingredients we choose to use and because they are often only available in specific areas.
Can you tell me about some of the benefits associated with your product(s)?
Our skincare products have proven to be moisturising, soothing and anti inflammatory for all from dry skin, rashes and cradle cap in babies to very dry mature skin, relieving Eczema , Psoriasis without steroids, healing, sores, cracked hands etc.
How important has social media been for you in spreading the word?
Social media is very important as a means of communication, placing word of mouth testimonies on a platform visible to potential customers all over the world and as a medium for garnering or receiving orders.
What makes your product unique?
Invariably people tell us that our products / moisturisers have a very fresh, clean, healthy or spa type fragrance, they absorb immediately and feel super soft on skin, and most importantly they are effective.
Where can people get your product?
Our Products are available in health shops and pharmacies around the country, including Hogans Health Stores and online
https://www.olis.ie/ and https://www.orlden.com/ and by contacting us directly.
Are there any other small Irish food producers you admire?
There are many small food producers, too many to mention but producing fresh wholesome and delicious Irish fruit, vegetables, ingredients, condiments, cakes etc
What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced since going into business?
Marketing our products sufficiently , cost of doing business, Brexit etc.
What do you feel is your biggest achievement to date with this business?
When a customer contacts us to say that we have cleared a rash on a child or given relief to a terminally ill lady tortured with haemorrhoids , or solved a particular problem be it on skin, a pet or others there is no greater reward than to feel you have helped someone by your actions.
Could you ever have imagined doing anything else with your life?
I was never great at predicting the future and I have worked in different spheres but meeting people, trying to relieve or solve skin issues for them means that every day is different and challenging.
What does the future hold for your business?
We have plans to develop some new products, increase product and brand awareness and there are actually a variety of different applications relevant to our products which we hope to develop.
Anything further to add?
Thank you for allowing us to join the Taste of Dublin event, we look forward to meeting many new and existing friends over the course of this week, listening to their stories and hopefully they will enjoy our products as so many have told us before.
