The 5 Best Places for Matcha in Dublin

You can barely walk down any street in Dublin these days without seeing someone walk by with a matcha in hand from one of the countless cafes now offering them on the menu, but where to get the best matcha in Dublin?

We’ve rounded up our top picks of the places that are serving matcha exactly as it should be: ethically sourced, hand whisked and ceremonial grade.

From the classics to the creative, here’s where to get your matcha fix…

1. Ladurée Café, South William Street, Dublin 2

French luxury meets Japanese tradition with the new matcha offerings at Ladurée, who are now serving matcha from Irish-based Mafia Matcha, which is sourced exclusively from Uji, Japan, renowned as the birthplace of high-quality matcha.

You can enjoy the smooth, vibrant, and umami-rich flavour of Premium Ceremonial Matcha served hot or iced – the iced matcha with almond milk is the perfect level of subtle sweetness that still allows the earthiness of the matcha to come through.

Enjoying a matcha in the beautiful surroundings at Ladurée is a real treat – made even better when complemented with one of their exquisite macarons or high-end pastries (opt for a pistachio macaron for that perfect green-on-green aesthetic).

4. Nobó, Dunville Avenue, Ranelagh, Dublin 6

Nobó uses unsweetened (an essential element in our books!) ceremonial grade matcha from Uji and they freshly whisk it for each drink. They recently added a new matcha menu, so you can choose from a classic straight-up matcha to tasty creations, including a white chocolate matcha or seasonal specials.

Top picks include their matcha pistachio latte which uses their own Nobó pistachio spread, and an iced strawberry vanilla matcha. Nobó also has a range of handmade single origin truffles, nut butters, granola and freshly made cakes and bakes to nibble on alongside your matcha.

3. OMMA (pop-up), Planet Beauty, Clarendon Street, Dublin 2

The new OMMA pop-up showcases a unique lineup of matcha-based drinks alongside authentic Japanese flavours like hojicha latte and sobacha.

At the heart of OMMA is a specialty ceremonial-grade matcha from the misty mountains of Miyazaki, Japan—sourced from a small, family-run farm and crafted from the youngest, freshest leaves of the first flush season.

Guided by the brand’s slogan, ‘Me time – tea time,’ OMMA Pop-Up Café encourages guests to slow down, savour the moment, and embrace tea as a ritual – you may have to wait around 30 minutes in a queue for this popular place, but the end result is worth it.

3. The Matcha Bar, Powerscourt Townhouse, South William Street, Dublin 2

What’s not to love about Ireland’s only dedicated matcha cafe, The Matcha Bar, which opened in the Powerscourt Centre, Dublin, in July 2024?

All of the matcha at The Matcha Bar is organic (which can often be hard to come by in Japan) & ceremonial grade matcha (highest quality, made from the youngest tea leaves. It has a vibrant green colour, a smooth, creamy texture, and a naturally sweet, umami flavour). As well as classic matcha drinks, the menu here includes creative blends (all syrups are made in-house), such as an iced rose matcha, lavender matcha, mango, and more.

5. Ku.fee, South William St, Dublin 2

Unassumingly tucked away inside Dylan Bradshaw salon on South William St, you’ll find some of the best matcha in Dublin. Ku.fee uses matcha sourced by OMMA, with a menu offering both classic matcha drinks plus Strawberry, Blueberry, Mango, Passionfruit, Coconut, Lavender, and Vanilla varities.

Matcha starts from just €4, and while the space inside is small, there’s perfectly positioned benches outside to people watch while you sip on your matcha of choice.
