Fondita Mestiza Bring Second Sonidero to Hen’s Teeth

Fondita Meztisa present their second Sonidero at Hen’s Teeth, bringing a day of music, dancing and a taste of Mexico to Dublin 8. The collective create unique gastronomic experiences that build bridges between the culinary and the cultural. Seeing food as a way to foster community, they will be serving up crispy tacos drenched in homemade salsa, sweet treats and agua frescas to accompany the beats from legendary Latin American groups and guest DJs.

With an aim to explore the relationship between community and food, the sonidero is a perfect example of their ethos. The event will run on Sunday, September 7th from 2pm-8pm. A cultural movement born in 1960s  Mexico City neighbourhoods, food has always been a central element of these inclusive street gatherings.

A Taste of What to Expect

The menu, crafted by Andrea Flores, is designed to connect people to the music, the atmosphere and the social fabric that defines the Sonadero tradition. It will feature handmade tacos made with tortillas from Dublin-based Mexican tortilleria Balam, filled with potato and guajillo chile and topped with salsa made with Irish grown jalapenos.

For dessert, the beloved Latin American fixture tres leches cake. Kicking off at 2pm the Sonidero offers an afternoon of dancing to salsa and cumbia beats.

Advance early bird tickets for admission are currently available from Eventbrite and it will be €23 on the door. Food and drinks to be purchased separately. Come ready to dance!
