After a sell out opening night in February with Chef Kwanghi Chan, Dublin City Brewing Co. are very excited to share details of the March edition of their new monthly online event, Dublin City Brewing Tasting Club.Taking place on the last Thursday of the month at 7.30pm on Zoom, it sees head brewer Fergal Murray host a tasting of three of their beers and a special guest food or drink producer joining him. The guest will talk with Fergal about how they would pair and enjoy a Dublin City Brewing beer with one of their culinary creations.
Lily Ramirez Foran and her husband Alan opened Picado Mexican on Dublin’s South Richmond Street in 2014. It is Ireland’s first dedicated Mexican grocer and cookery school, where the couple import and sell the finest food items from Lily’s native land of Mexico. Her cookery demos are hugely popular and she is a leading expert on Mexican cuisine, she is a regular guest chef on TV. On the night, she’ll be sharing top tips on how to make homemade tortilla chips with her Picado tortillas, which everyone will receive as part of the kit. She’ll also be sharing her recipe for “Drunken Salsa” that uses Dublin City Brewing Co’s latest addition, their Pioneer Pilsner beer.
Head Brewer Fergal Murray describes the limited-edition Pioneer Pilsner as boasting layers of malt character with floral notes from the classic pilsner hops. It delivers the refreshing, crisp and delicate flavours expected from the style. He adds, “The flavours of Mexico are as colourful and varied as they are delicious! We’re honoured that Ireland’s best Mexican chef Lily Ramirez Foran is joining us for our second Dublin City Brewing Tasting Club and I can’t wait to learn from her extensive wealth of culinary knowledge.”
“Our team and I have been eagerly awaiting to launch the Pioneer Pilsner. It’s name alludes to the independent brewers once prominent across the towns and counties of Ireland. With the growth of larger breweries in the 20th century, many of these small breweries disappeared. We dedicate this beer to the brewing pioneers who paved the way for independents like us.”Geoff Waddell, Managing Director of Dublin City Brewing Co
