Neven Maguire Cookery School Review by Niamh Mannion
CAVAN REVIEW
Set in a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and picturesque lakes, Blacklion is a tiny village in County Cavan close to the Fermanagh border and is home to the extraordinarily popular MacNean House & Restaurant owned by Neven Maguire – chef, cookery book author, television host and champion of Irish food and producers. In 2014 Neven realised a lifelong ambition and opened his own Cookery School; a place where he could share his enthusiasm for and knowledge of food and cookery with the aim of getting more of us into our kitchens cooking!
A Love Affair with Loam by Niamh Mannion
GALWAY RESTAURANT REVIEW
Loam in Galway has been on my foodie bucket list for a while so I was delighted to finally get the opportunity to visit recently. Located off Eyre Square in a rather anonymous looking building, this restaurant cum wine bar has a spacious, modern feel inside which reflects the style of the food perfectly.
A Barbecue with a Big Difference – Asador Restaurant Dublin
DUBLIN RESTAURANT REVIEW
Sitting in the office last Tuesday one of many twitter notifications popped up on screen, this one however caught my attention, another foodie friend had shared an image of their lunch from Asador the previous day. I say lunch but mini feast would be more appropriate!
Marco Pierre White Courtyard Review
DUBLIN RESTAURANT REVIEW
When you walk under the archway into the chic courtyard at Marco Pierre White in Donnybrook it is hard to believe that this once housed a humble green grocers. This deceivingly large space is quite the surprise. We decided as it was such a beautiful evening we would take advantage of the recently added heated terrace and enjoy a glass of Albarinho while we waited for our table.
A Shining Light – Gaslight at The Meyrick Review
GALWAY RESTAURANT REVIEW
Those who have read our 24 hours in Galway article may have noticed The Gaslight mentioned as an excellent lunch recommendation, so good in fact on our recent trip to Galway we decided to have dinner here. As we were staying in the Meyrick we didn’t have far to go.
Dobbins Restaurant – A Blast from the Past
DUBLIN RESTAURANT REVIEW
If you ask most people, taxi drivers included, where Stephens Lane is you can often be met with a blank stare. Tucked away in a hidden enclave behind Dublin’s Mount Street you will find one of the city’s longest running restaurants.
A Taste of Naples in Dublin – Il Posto Review
DUBLIN RESTAURANT REVIEW
Stephen’s Green is generally a pretty reliable spot for good food. Many of the restaurant’s housed here are there ten years plus, no mean feat, especially considering how tough the last few years have been on this industry. They all have one thing is common – consistency. Us Irish are renowned for going back to the same spot over and over again once we love a place. Il Posto is one of those stalwarts that you may have overlooked.

TOM DOORLEY FEATURE
Stand by your Spud by Tom Doorley
FOOD FEATURE
I’ve been enjoying my crop of first early potatoes lately, and a first taste of a variety called Sarpo Mira, bred in Hungary and said to be exceptionally resistant to blight. Well, so far so good. Not a sign of the dreaded disease; and I can report that they taste good, too, with a moderately floury texture. I’ll be growing them again.

Still Brunch of Champions? San Lorenzo’s Review by Niamh Mannion
BRUNCH FEATURE
Somebody should have warned me…In retrospect, it might not have been the best idea to arrive ravenously hungry to brunch in San Lorenzo’s on Dublin’s South Great George’s Street. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and fuelled by hunger, I may have over-estimated the amount I could eat. They don’t call this the #BrunchofChampions without reason but that didn’t mean that I had to look upon it as a challenge!
