Three Winter Warmer Wines for this Weekend that Are Currently on Sale

Take walk around any shopping street and you’ll see the red signs luring you into retailers’ January sales. This, being the week before the first payday of the year, is not one to go on a blowout, but you can still treat yourself if you know where to look.

O’Briens Wine has just announced their winter red promotion, with “buy one get the second half price” deals on numerous bottles that are just ideal for the chilly weekend ahead.

Below, three wines for the weekend among my favourites from the sale…

This playful Portuguese Syrah offers a fruit-forward, light body red with a kick. It offers aromas of ripe juicy cherries and blackberries with the peppery spiciness we know and love from Syrah.

With soft tannins and balanced, easy to drink character, it is friendly and easy to like, one to crack open with a meaty pizza and Netflix’s finest!

This Syrah-Grenache blend from the Languedoc pays an organic homage to the solar system. A plentiful cornucopia of ripe red fruits with a gentle sprinkle of sweet spices and pepper.

This rich and velvety Californian Zin from Mendocino County is an open book, exuberant and generous, it brings instant gratification to nose and palate.

With moderate tannins and a balanced combination between plums, blackberry preserve, and ripe cranberries on the fruit front and vanilla, toast and clove on the oaky side, its full body delivers plenty with each sip. One to serve with hearty beef dishes.
