A big wine from a great winemaker, whose wines you may already be familiar with Sierra Cantabria and San Vicente. Coming from the Toro region its powerful red wines located on the Duero River just 40 miles east of the Portuguese border. Best described as “Australian Shiraz meets Rioja”.
There is no mistaking the nose on this wine it is big and bold with aromas wild berries and cherries. It is a deep brooding wine with notes of worn leather, spice, autumn leaves and oak.
This is a big bold wine, it is very full bodied, chewy even. The dark berries and leather intermingle with some autumnal vegetal flavours to give you a deep and warming wine. Tannin is grippy but the flavour profile kicks it back. This wine is packed full of dark fruits leather with lovely oak integration.
This wine grows and grows. Do decant it really needs it, if at all possible decant an hour or two before consuming. Then enjoy, with perhaps a steak.
