Wine & Design at Tartare Café + Wine Bar Returns for 2020

New 2020 programme announced for Tartare’s popular event series which brings together two passions – wine appreciation and the arts.

Tartare Café + Wine Bar will host a local artist or designer each month, providing them with a platform to discuss their work, their inspirations, and what it means to be an artist in Galway.

Highlighting the close relationship between the culinary and the artistic, each event will include a wine tasting as well as a talk highlighting the creative winemaking process of natural, organic and biodynamic wines.

Co-owner of Tartare, Drigin Gaffey, has a love of design and the arts, and launched Wine & Design to give local artists a platform to showcase their work and a space to network. “When designing Tartare, I envisaged a space where creatives would love to be and I’m delighted with the popularity of the series so far.”

JP McMahon, co-owner of Tartare, said, “When we came up with this concept last year we wanted to draw attention to the links between food and the arts, showing how creativity links chefs, food producers, winemakers and the greater arts community. The response last year was brilliant and we are happy to announce the latest series of events which gives a platform to the creativity which is alive and well in Galway.”

The first event this year kicks off on the 5th of March with photographer Julia Dunin who will be discussing her female portrait photography project. Graffiti artist Shane O’Malley will speak about his work in April and ceramic maker Tatiana Dobos will be the featured artist for May.

June will see a special ‘Craft & Draft’ edition of the Wine & Design series, which will feature beer pairings instead of wine, with tattoo artist Steve Kennedy of Galway Bay Tattoo.

Wine & Design will take place each month from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. The events are free, however booking is recommended. To book call (091) 567 803 or email food@tartaregalway.ie.
