Whiskey Tasting Experience Goes Down a Treat in The Basement Bar at 101 Limerick

“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.” – Mark Twain.

101 Limerick, Southern Comfort’s People’s Choice for Ireland’s Bar of the Year 2019 has a hidden gem tucked away below street level.

The Basement Bar is an underground hideaway, decorated with paintings by the acclaimed Irish artist Solus and tales of “Dead“ Rob Rich to give visitors a taste of Limerick character. There is an air of something left from the old world untouched by time. Many bottles of golden brown spirits glisten on the old oak shelves set on rough-cut stone and red brick walls. Flames flicker in the hearth of the open fire sending a warm glow across the floor. Sitting here in the low lit snug a sense of time melts away while the warmth of the fire and whiskey embraces you.

The Basement shelves store and extensive range of whiskeys from top shelf rarities such as Midleton dair ghaelach to old favorites like Jameson and Powers, there is something here for the discerning connoisseur. Enjoy a dram of your favorite or ask the barman for his recommendations. The Basement Bar staff love nothing better than sharing their vast knowledge of whiskey. The Bar plays host to whiskey tasting events and whiskey tours are available for groups of 10 or more people.

The Basement Bar is also available to book for private events. For more information visit www.101limerick.com or email bookings@101limerick.com
