West Cork Distillers Launch The Pogues Irish Whiskey
West Cork Distillers, one of only three independent whiskey distilleries in Ireland, has launched The Pogues Irish Whiskey, inspired by and developed in conjunction with The Pogues.
A collaboration between two of the world’s most renowned distillers, Barry Walsh and Frank McHardy, the whiskey is a blend of grain and 50% single malt Irish whiskey making it Ireland’s highest malt-containing blended Irish whiskey.
The whiskey has an aroma of malt, cracked nuts, almond and a slight sweetness and its smooth intensity delivers a palate that is malty and floral with a mild chocolate taste and lingering citrus.
Commenting on the partnership, The Pogues said:
“It’s been brilliant working with such experts to come up with a whiskey that we all think speaks of us and that we all like the taste of. It’s mind-blowing to think that we will have our band represented through such a great Irish whiskey and we hope it stands the test of time.”

ABOUT THE POGUE
“The Pogues Irish Whiskey is a unique blend of 50% 10-year single malt Irish whiskey aged in sherry oak casks and seven year old single malt Irish whiskey aged in bourbon oak casks and 50% four year Irish grain whiskey aged in bourbon oak casks. The liquid has an aroma of malts and cracked nuts, with a sweet taste and a smooth, intense flavour. Notably, West Cork is Ireland’s only whiskey producer to malt its own barley, enabling exceptional precision and control over flavour profile. It is distilled using ingredients indigenous to Ireland, including locally grown grain and spring water from the idyllic River Ilen. It’s carefully crafted in small batches in handmade copper stills at West Cork’s distillery in Skibbereen, the cultural home of Irish whiskey.” Read More
