The World’s Biggest Wine App Vivino to Open Dublin Office

Vivino, the world’s most downloaded wine app with 26 million users and the largest library of wines from around the globe, is planning to run its European operations from Ireland.

As reported by The Sunday Times, the Danish company considered Dublin thanks to the international talent pool available. While the country doesn’t have such a long and established wine drinking tradition, a spokesperson praised Ireland’s anti-snobbery culture.

According to business search site Solocheck.ie, a company named Vivino Ireland Limited was set up on October the 13th with a Dublin 2 address. They’ve also created a company profile for Vivino Ireland on popular job hunting site Jobbio, although by the time we checked (October 23rd, 2017) there were no positions listed.

Vivino was created in 2010 by Heini Zachariassen and according to The Sunday Times, it has raised $37m in investment. Last year alone, Vivino handled sales of €34 million in wine.

The app is a wine lover’s secret weapon as it allows you to take a photo of a bottle and get plenty of valuable information about it, as well as rate it, save your tasting notes and interact with other users or follow them, creating an international community of oenophiles.
