Here are our picks of the five best food and drink events this weekend, May 27-28th.
Transforming the top floor of Dame Street car park once again, The House of Peroni is back. The pop-up bar and restaurant on 1 Dame Lane is open from this weekend until the 4th of June, and if the launch party was anything to go by, an evening that channeled the glamorous charms of Italy, this will be the place to be seen this weekend. Snap up one of the much sought after tables for early dinner or brunch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or just join the crowds at the bar enjoying creative cocktails by master mixologist Federico Riezzo, Italian gelato and the best views in the city.
Zozimus Bar is launching its first ‘takeover’ of Anne’s Lane, just off Grafton Street, this Saturday May 27th. The street party kicks of at 6pm with a live brass band music to get your hips moving late into the night. A rotisserie style whole slow roasted pig, served with our housemade salad on fresh baps, frozen cocktails and a street party atmosphere are also guaranteed.
On Saturday 27th, after the madding crowds have left and the dusk descends on Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo will come alive again, opening its doors to a limited number of people for the return of its ever popular Summer Nights BBQ series. From 6.30pm UNtil late, attendees will experience the night sights and sounds of Dublin Zoo, enjoy an exclusive after-hours tour and special keeper talks, followed by a delicious BBQ and live music. Strictly over 18s, you can buy tickets at dublinzoo.digitickets.co.uk.
Something wonderful is brewing down in Kerry. This weekend, Killarney is the place to be for beer lovers as the Killarney Beerfest 2017 will bring demonstrations, tastings, opportunities to meet with the brewers, workshops and more to the town. The event will take place at Killarney’s INEC from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th of May.
Taking over New Market Square, Dublin 8, on the last Sunday of each month, the May edition of the Dublin Flea Market takes places this Sunday 28th. Alongside the bizarre bazaar of vintage clothing and bric-a-brac, the Dublin Food Co-op, The Green Door Market will be alive with their regular food traders, along with flea market favourites like Sceal Bakery (grab a ‘cruffin’ before they sell out!) and Katie Sanderson‘s White Mausu, selling Asian rice bowls, a sell-out at LitFest, and her incredibly delicious Peanut Rayu.
