A new pure play e-commerce retailer, www.thesinglemaltshop.com is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Single Malt fund, the world’s first publicly listed alternative investment fund for whisky/whiskey. Based in Dublin, Ireland, www.thesinglemaltshop.com, will aim to delight consumers with a wide range of rare and collectible whiskies and whiskeys, from across the globe. During a period when consumers are moving more and more online, they believe now is the perfect time to come to the market with a new destination for discerning whisky/whiskey lovers. Their intention is to partner with the industry to make their brands shine and to, hopefully, contribute to bringing new consumers into the category. The site went live on May 27th. Managing Director, Ed Forrest adds,
“We are thrilled to have partnered with Irish Distillers on this exclusive bottling of Redbreast 22 year old single cask. With our home being Dublin, it seems fitting that our first ever exclusive bottling should be an Irish whiskey, and we can think of no finer brand to celebrate our launch than Redbreast. This bottling is an absolute delight; rich and fruity with an incredible depth of flavour, from a fabulous brand. The ideal start to our partnership with Irish Distillers.”
Redbreast 22 Year Old All Sherry Single Cask is available exclusively from www.thesinglemaltshop.com for €475 per bottle. Shipping available in listed countries.
This Redbreast 22 Year Old All Sherry Single Cask was hand selected by Irish Distillers Master Blender Billy Leighton and Blender David McCabe and bears the signature sherry style that is synonymous with Redbreast Irish Whiskey.
First laid down to mature on the 17th of October 1997 in ex-bourbon barrels, this exceptional liquid was then re-casked in an Oloroso seasoned sherry butt on 25 March 2010.
This whiskey was bottled in the spring of 2020 at 22 years old, yielding 468 bottles at cask strength 55.9% ABV.
The bottling represents a unique and singular nuanced expression of Redbreast
Nose – The seasoned oak delivers rich notes of toasted wood working in tandem with dark berry fruits, bitter chocolate and nutty liqueur undertones. The pot still spices build overtime adding touches of anise and nutmeg.
Taste – Rich in tannins with touches of leather and dried tobacco that quickly subside revealing toasted almonds and walnuts, all layered over sweet vanilla and dried fruits that linger in the background adding balance to the pot still spices.
Finish – Lingering finish with the fruits softly fading, allowing the many years spent in oak to have the final say.
For more than a century, Redbreast has stayed true to the single pot still whiskey making tradition and today is considered to be the definitive expression of this quintessential style of Irish whiskey. Crafted by Master Blender, Billy Leighton, at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Redbreast offers a rich, full-bodied flavour profile with a signature sherry influence, and is growing in popularity in key Irish whiskey markets around the world including the US, UK and Ireland. The most-awarded single pot still Irish whiskey range in the world demonstrates a clear commitment to age, quality and innovation in Irish whiskey, and features; Redbreast 12 Year Old, 12 Year Old Cask Strength, 15 Year Old, 21 Year Old and 27 Year Old; Redbreast Lustau; and limited editions such as Redbreast Dream Cask.
The Robin Redbreast is the only bird which sings continuously throughout the dark Irish winters and is one of the very few small birds that choose to winter in Ireland. It is this enduring spirit which inspires its namesake, Redbreast Irish Whiskey.
