Smoking Hot Chef Line Up Announced for Ireland’s Biggest BBQ Festival, The Big Grill

The Big Grill, Europe’s biggest international BBQ festival is back to celebrate its fourth year. It returns to the leafy surrounds of Herbert Park, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 and will run from the 17th until the 20th of August.

This festival celebrates the art of cooking with fire and smoke and expects 20,000 visitors who will get the chance to smell, taste, discover and learn about all kinds of barbecuing, grilling, smoking, meats, delicacies and drinks from around the globe.

Andy Noonan, co-founder of The Big Grill has handpicked some leading chefs and pitmasters to cook up a storm in Herbert Park. However, they must cook with live fire using natural charcoal and wood only; no gas or electricity.

Some of the chefs and pitmasters include Andy Ricker from Portland, Oregon who will bring with him the bold flavours of his wildly popular and widely lauded Pok Pok restaurants. Dublin born Masterchef judge Robin Gill joins the pitmaster lineup and will bring a taste of his restaurants The Dairy, and  The Manor to Herbert Park. Holy Smoke‘s John Relihan will return this year after an ambitious and very successful brick pit and whole hog roast last year.

The Big Grill will once again play host to a world class selection of drinks  from all over Ireland and further afield. There will be over 25 craft breweries as well as Jameson Barrellman’s Feast, Dingle Gin, Wicklow Brewery, Eight Degrees and more.

The festival also provides a weekend of entertainment with the full line up to be announced in June. However, there is a new area, ‘Bastecamp’, which will be  the smoking hub of the festival. Expect some heated chats, interviews and profiles with the pitmasters.

Sunday is Family Day; Children under 12 go free (all weekend) and there is a special area for them with activities and entertainment including The Great Herbert Park Bug Hunt and lots of child-friendly food from a variety of vendors, this makes ‘The Big Grill’ a great day out for all the family.
