The Address at Connolly, Excellent Value for The Perfect City Break in The Capital

When you walk through the doors of the 4-star The Address at Connolly, which gets its name from being located right across the road from Connolly Train Station. You will be pleasantly surprised by the interior of the hotel and décor. The contemporary interior is very different to the traditional exterior.  This is a modern boutique hotel that reminded us of funky hotels you would find under the railway bridges in cities such as London or Berlin. The reception of the hotel is located within one of the arches of the railway line that connects Connelly station to Tara Street station.  The bar is a cool area of the hotel featuring a very instagramable neon sign of glowing text that reads “this must be the place”.  It is evident that this is a design-driven hotel.

After check-in, we headed to our room. The quality of furnishings and size of the room were made for an intimately relaxed atmosphere. We stayed in one of the newly launched Club Rooms on the 7th floor, which is accessed by a private elevator.  The rooms featured one of the best smart features I have seen in a hotel room. The state-of-the-art technology included one-touch device controls for curtain opening and closing, room lighting, climate control, and entertainment. It also featured a direct connection to housekeeping and room service.

The Club Rooms also offer access to the private rooftop Club Lounge. Here you’ll find a small, decked balcony with panoramic views of Dublin’s docklands. We found this a perfect spot to enjoy cocktails in the mid-afternoon sunshine.

For the full hotel experience, we dined in the hotel’s McGettigan’s Cookhouse. The Cookhouse provides casual, relaxed dining with no fuss tasty dishes. To start we had Slow Cooked Pork Belly,  served with black pudding, apple & watercress. We also had the Classic Ceasar Salad with cos lettuce, parmesan, crispy bacon topped with a boiled egg.

For mains, we had Cookhouse Chicken Kiev, with chard tender stem broccoli and nduja sausage. We also had Soy Glazed Ladder Of Beef which comes with crispy shallots, roast carrot, watercress and skinny fries.

The location, is one of the main attractions of this hotel, as previously said it is located directly across the road from one of Dublin’s main train stations. It is just a short walk to the shopping mecca that is Henry street, Arnotts, Ilac and Jervis shopping centres. You can get to the Grafton street area on foot in15/20 minutes if the great restaurants and bars in that area take your fancy. So whether it is a trip to the city for shopping or a gig in the 3Arena or a game in Croke Park this hotel offers excellent value for the perfect city break in the capital!
