Top Chefs Host Masterclasses At This Year’s Taste of Cavan Food Festival

The much loved Taste of Cavan food festival returns for the seventh year running, much to the delight of food lovers, with an even bigger and better line up than before.

Running from the 10th – 11th August in the Cavan Equestrian Centre the two day festival will bring the best food, drink, family activities and chefs to the town.

Friday and Saturday will be full of food stalls selling local specialties including award winning cheese and fantastic organic sausages from Barry Johns Butchers,

There will be many food demonstrations and masterclasses, with some of Ireland’s top chefs on hand to dish up tasty dishes for the crowd.

Cavan native and star chef Neven Maguire will be hosting a masterclass with Dunnes Stores Simply Better. Neven will use fantastic ingredients from the range, giving guests the opportunity to cook alongside one of Ireland’s best loved chefs.

Chef Shane Smith will be in attendance on Friday giving a cake decorating class for parents and children at 4pm. The pastry whiz will be giving his fun top tips to create show-stopping cake creations.

In addition to the festival a Taste of Cavan Food Trail will take place throughout the town. With twenty local restaurants offering tasting plates for the special price of just €5 per plate.

The Food Trail will run from 1pm to 4pm each day with plenty of mouthwatering dishes to choose from.

Murph’s Bistro at the Derragarra Inn will be serving up Lamb Kofta with Mint Yogurt and Popadom Salad.

The Big Apple Restaurant will dishing out their ‘Big Apple Burger’ that will certainly satisfy even the hungriest diners.

For those with a sweet tooth there is plenty of tempting treats on offer – Chapter 1 is serving a decadent Chocolate and Salted Caramel Cake with tea or coffee.

The Melbourne Bakery & Coffee Shop is offering a delicious Slow Roasted Cavan Beef Rump with Cheese and Smoked Apple Chuntey in a Sourdough Bap.

Tickets to this fantastic foodie event are just €7 for adults and is free for children under 12. This is set to be a highlight of the summer in Cavan and is one event not to miss.
