Taste Iconic California Wines with John Wilson at 64 Wine this Wednesday 10th of May
As part of Ireland’s first California Wine Week, this Wednesday 10th of May wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste some of the most iconic styles of wines from the Golden State in the company of John Wilson, Irish Times wine writer and host for the evening.
Wilson will guide guests through the styles of California wines stopping to present the Sideways Challenge, inspired in the Oscar-winning film that took the wine world by surprise and gave Pinot Noir an edge against Merlot. Which variety will get more love in 2017?
Another climatic episode in the history of California Wine, the Judgement of Paris, will get a nod as well, with bottles from the wineries that proved in 1976 that California wines were at least as good and sometimes better than prestigious French wines. Be ready to sip on stars including Chateau Montelena Chardonnay & Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Cakebread, Shafer, Othello by Dominus and many more icons.
The event will take place in 64 Wine, and dishes by ely Excecutive Chef Ryan Stringer, will accompany the wines with fine Irish produce, including organic meats from the ely family farm in Clare.
Tickets are €65 per person.
