The Award Winning Step House Hotel Bought Back by The Coady Family

The Step House Hotel in Borris, Co. Carlow went into receivership in 2015 but this week has returned to the hands of former owners the Coady family.  Having been run by appointed PREM Group Management for almost two years, the Coady family’s purchase of the hotel will bring a renewed lease of life to the boutique hotel which was highly celebrated prior to receivership.

A notable feature in this new chapter of the Step House Hotel is the return of Head Chef Alan Foley. The multi-award winning chef brought great acclaim to the hotel on the culinary front but was replaced when PREM took over operations at the Step House.

Foley was named Bridgestone Chef of the Year in 2013, won Best Chef in Carlow 2015 at the Restaurant Association of Ireland Awards and led Brasserie 1808 to Best Hotel Restaurant in Carlow in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

The Carlow native began plying his trade at Ashford Castle and continued to broaden his knowledge in the Sheen Falls Lodge where he later became sous chef. He later moved on to Peacock Alley under Conrad Gallagher and then on to Chapter One with Ross Lewis and brings this rich experience back to this Borris restaurant.
