Smithwick’s Kilkenny Roots Festival is returning this May Bank Holiday weekend, bringing some of the finest names in the American/Roots canon to Ireland.
With an eclectic line-up of over 40 international music acts, this festival will be a true weekend to remember in Ireland’s beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny.
Taking place from Friday May 4th to Monday May 7th in over 30 venues around Kilkenny, crowds from across Ireland and Europe will attend the festival’s 21st birthday.
So who’s attending? The musical line-up includes legendary American Root’s rockers, The Blasters, Nashville Rockabilly outfit, HillBilly Casino, The Deep Dark Woods who are returning after a four-year hiatus, Maryland’s Michael Nau, who will take to the stage as part of the Smithwick’s Music Trial, Peter Oren (recently descibed by NME Magazine as “quite simply stunning”), Birds of Chicago, Molly Tuttle and lots more.
The Smithwick’s Music Trail will kick off from the early afternoon on Friday 4th of May and run late into the night throughout the bank holiday weekend.
